Fit Calculator

Remember, many bra fit sites can calculate the band and cup size differently. If bra companies and brands have different calculation processes, then the result is often different each time. Each of these mismatching numbers and formulas can be confusing, making any woman dizzy. We’ll soon teach you a simple, fool-proof method, that works every time.

Calculating Feel

These bra calculators tend to forget one of the most crucial factors in bra sizing-- feel. No matter what the numbers tell you, they can’t determine your feel and comfort from just them alone. As specialists, we know the right fit by the way a bra looks on your frame, and how it feels. A bra’s band should fit snug, its cups should contain the breast tissue, and the straps should assist the bra, not support your breasts. We know what an uncomfortable bra feels like. Luckily, we also know how to fix it.

Find Your Fit

90% of bra support is in the band. It’s your suspension bridge, your foundation, your way to a perfect fit. The band is literally your bra’s base and is built to support your breasts. If it’s not secure, you’re not secure. It should feel comfortably snug and sit perfectly level around, from front to back. If it rides up and you constantly have to pull it down with even the slightest movement, the size is too big. If you feel it digging into your skin throughout the day, countdown the hours until you can go home and finally take it off, or find alarming marks once you do, it’s too small. The fit must be snug, like a second skin, but not to the point of cutting off circulation.

When it comes to your cup, it should feel like a soft, embracing hug. Your breasts should be secure within the confines of the cup, and fill it out. If there are gaps between the cup and your breast, you’re wearing a cup size too big. If you find your breast spilling over the top, side, or bottom of the cup, you most likely need to go up in size. You also need to consider a larger cup size if the underwire or bottom of the bra is resting on your breasts.

It is important to know that all cups are not created equal. In fact, they change proportion with your band size. This means that the cup on a 36A bra is not the same as a cup on a 32A bra.

Because the experts at Freshpair® are familiar with international sizes and conversions, we have a method to finding your fit, always. Follow the steps below, and attain fit, comfort, and support, with every bra you buy. Be sure to measure yourself every six months, so that your bra size is up to date.

Test Your Size

To achieve the best results, take the measurements in a non-padded bra.

Step 1. Finding Your Band Size

Wrap a tape measure around your back, so the opening is in the front. Position the tape measure just above your bust, under your arms. Make sure the tape measure lays flat, and keep both of your elbows down.

• Take your measurement. Make sure the tape measure is not wrapped too tight, or too loose.

• You want your measurement to be an even number. If it is not, round to the nearest    even number based off the type of fit you want. For example, if you measured a 33,  and want a tighter fit, you would round down to a 32. If you want a looser fit, you    would round up to a 34.

• That number is your band size.

Step 2. Finding Your Bust Size

• Once again, place the tape measure under your arms and wrap it around your back,    with the opening in the front. Keep your elbows down. The tape measure needs to be  wrapped around the fullest part of your bust.

• This number is your bust size.

Step 3. Finding Your Cup Size

• Bust – Band = Cup. Subtract your band size from your bust size.

• Use the chart below to determine your cup size. The larger the difference, the larger    your cup size.

• For example, if you had a 3” difference, your cup size is a C. Let’s say your band size   was a 34. Then, your ideal bra size is a 34C.

A Dose of Reality

Our breasts change as we change; maybe you lost weight, or gained, perhaps you’ve had children, or nursed. And let’s  face it, we all age. Any of these factors can cause a change within our breasts, no matter how insignificant it may seem. Our breasts are on a constant journey from puberty, to childbirth, to menopause.

As our breasts experience these changes, we most likely need to adjust our bra size. Typically, we train ourselves to wear the same bra size, as if we’re beholden to it. We’ll go into the bra department of a store, and immediately focus our eyes on the size we are used to and have always worn. We may think to ourselves, “I’m a 36D, I’ve always been, and that’s not changing.” The truth and reality, however, is that our breasts do not stay the same size. So why should our bras?

The right bra will noticeably improve your appearance. It will contain and lift your breasts, elevating your chest and minimizing your waist. The right bra will provide options. Bra Fit Specialist, Bobbie Smith, recalls a customer whose life dramatically improved when she found the right fit, “She hadn’t been able to wear t-shirts since she was 16 and it wasn’t until she experienced the right fit that doors opened to a new wardrobe. When you can’t find the right bra or don’t know what the right fit is, it really limits what you can wear.” Smith continues, “When you’re elevated and in the right bra, it feels like a superpower. Pair the perfect bra with a matching panty and you know you look good. You feel like you can conquer the world.”

So tap into your inner superpower, discover your best-fitting bra, and conquer your world.

The more a woman knows about her body and her bra, the more confident she is in life.
