I am 70 and have noticed over the years that athletic socks have become less and less comfortable and practical. I also have large feet so the selection was limited. I haven't had trouble finding extra thick hiking and skiing socks, just standard gym and everyday socks. I finally gave up finding them in stores and decided to take a chance on line. The key to me selecting the Wigwam 625 was the comment about remembering what socks were like in the '50s and '60s. I am happy to say that's exactly what this sock delivers. I bought three pairs to try them and immediately added another six when I tried the first ones. I love these socks!
I am 77 years old and the circulation in my leggs it not too good. I like a loose fit around mylegs and these socks are perfect. The fit is snug, but convortable, not like menysocks that cut off the circulation to my feet. These socks feel like the gym socks I used to wear to play basketball during the early 1950's. AJ
This is my fault! I was looking for white cotton crew socks, which seem to be an extinct style. I like Wigwam products, but I forgot that in my youth, they were known for their wool socks. I didn't want wool socks, so it is my fault that I didn't realize that is what I would be getting. All I really want are some white cotton socks that don't have cushioning.
This IS a classic Sweat Sock. It's predominantly wool so it regains its loft between wearings and after washing; and it's not a blinding white color, which I hate. All up, it is a great casual sock that doesn't look old-mannish or teenage geekish, and it's really good to wear when hiking. Being wool, it takes a bit more thought in the washing; and it will probably wear out at the heel faster then the cheapo cotton numbers, but it's worth it.
