My Daddy and uncles, my brothers and cousins and I--all the Corbens studs, in short--have been wearing FTL undershirts and undershorts for decades, and my 2 sons (teen-aged) wear them now, too. Maybe it's an American South trend more than elsewhere, but nothing beats FTL tank-style undershirts for feeling cool and dry beneath a business meeting's stuffy shirt-and-tie, or just sweltering like heckfire beneath the hot sun when you're outside working and wearing nothing on top. A T-shirt is bulky, traps sweat, and bunches up under the arms; the FTL tank shirt is a classic of American manliness, and for American men who just want to be men without worrying too much over it.
(As for the shorts, those are debated, and suited for individual tastes. Daddy and his brothers wore those longer baggy buttoned boxers, but my generation seems to prefer briefs--myself, I like keeping my moving parts battened cozily down, and bunched boxershorts under a pair of jeans are like a diaper--and one of my sons likes briefs but the other likes that "trunks" style. But the tank undershirts? Those are a constant. You should see the Corbens men gathered at family BBQs...)
